Next Tuesday

Next Tuesday (27th) Courtney is going to host our group at her house. We are going to get together at 6:30pm to have dinner together. Court had a cool idea to make personal pizzas. She will get the crust and cheese for all the pizzas but it would be a big help if we each brought a topping for the pizzas. We are also going to talk about Christ together (how cool is that?!) It's going to be a fun night to be together in fellowship and I hope to see you there.

Tokyo Prayer Card

Hey guys, I'm currently working on getting another location on the web for us that will also have this information. Below are the six points that were listed on the prayer card for Tokyo:

1)University students of Japan will see beyond religion to a rescue that is personal and a God who cares.

2)This generation will forge a movement of integrity that will transform the nation with justice and truth.

3)Pastors and leaders in Japan will be filled with passion, creativity and endurance in the Gospel.

4)Nothing will hinder students from gathering from across Japan for Passion Tokyo.

5)Students will be freed from the lies of consumerism, materialism and apathy.

6)The recent tradition of mixed/convenient religious ideas (Buddhism, Shintoism, and Christianity) will be denied in favor of the true hope found in Christ alone.

I absolutely invite you to join in on praying for Tokyo this year. The event that Passion is leading there will be on the 12-13 October 2008. Please also pray for the Passion team as they face many obstacles and attacks on their journey to lead a generation of students in living for the one thing that matters most: the fame of Jesus Christ. Join your heart with the many others who will intercede for Tokyo this year, may His glory shine.

Oh Wow!

There is so much to say that I don't even know if I have a clue what to write. What a wonderful weekend this has been! Thank you so much to those of you who joined the movement this weekend in Atlanta. I also want to send an enormous thank you to those of you who were at home this weekend praying for us. That is huge to me.

A defining moment of this trip for me was listening to Sam Lu pray on Saturday night. All I could think was "Oh wow...she gets it." All I could do was sob like I haven't cried in ages. God poured into my heart with His life during that session. As I shared on Sunday morning over breakfast, the way that this girl from China prayed made me want to live with bravery that I have never known before to make Christ famous. Singing "we are free, we are free, yea the Son has set us free, drop your chains sons and daughters, come and run in liberty!" furthered that sense of bravery in my life.

More to come soon!

What do you guys think was a defining moment of the weekend for you?

Do Something Now

Hey guys, the regional event that we are going to is coming up very quickly. There are a couple of things I want to remind you about so that we will all be prepared come 11 April.

First, remember to pack light! We are all going to be able to ride in one vehicle (a very big one) so we will need to keep our bags small. We are also going to try to bring a cooler to save on drinks and perhaps lunch.

Second, the Do Something Now campaign is a huge part of the Passion movement. Action is worship. There are three aspects to the Do Something Now campaign that we will be able to participate in during our gathering in Atlanta:
1. Bring towels and socks for the homeless people of Atlanta.
2. Give toward building a well in Africa.
3. Pray for and give to the college students of Tokyo, Japan (our partner city for the Passion World Tour.
We are collecting towels and socks at FUMC over the next two Sundays to bring along for Atlanta. If you attend another church it would be fantastic if you knew of some people who would like to help with this project. Remember, bring a new towel and some new socks with you when we go. It might seem miniscule, but it does make a difference.

Peace.

S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y Night!

What a beautiful day this is! I'm typing senior research stuff on the deck behind my house loving this perfect weather and the God who made it all.

Evidently Saturday is going to be a pretty good day. At 5pm we are going to have a cookout at my house with some killer BBQ burgers and banana splits. Afterward we will hang out and play some games. Also at 7pm a ministry affiliated with Rod and Jenn will be having a special worship gathering at First UMC at which their long time friend Ray Owens will be speaking. So if you would like to come eat and chill for a couple hours and head over to the service you are more than welcome to come. See you Saturday.

Peace

A Spiritual Moment on the Grill and the Beauty of Cool Air

It's been a while since we have posted anything but prayer requests or announcements about people we are connected with in some way. There were a few times that I had moments of "Hey, I should put something on the m6:8 blog." only to get on and think "I probably shouldn't force some silly words that would sound nice." So now I finally have something to say.

Tonight I picked up some surveys for my senior project that a buddy of mine took to USF on Friday and came back home alone to have dinner. I had to sit and read my Mexican Cookbook that my brother got me for Christmas (nice gift!) for a while to decide what I was going to do. I'm telling you, it was a weird night; I didn't hang out with anybody and I had some time on my hands. After 20 minutes or so I took off to drive to Publix. I came home $4 later with a center-cut pork chop, yellow rice and black beans. Then everything went crazy! I seasoned the meat and put some barbeque sauce on. Little did I know that the aroma would intoxicate me the moment I sat that baby on the grill! This sounds stupid but I had a spiritual moment on my back porch grilling a pork chop. I appreciated the fact that God created us needing food to live and how wonderfully he made food in so many great flavors and textures. He could have made all food grits or something generic like that. But he gave us chili peppers and pork and beans and saffron and rice. Our God does everything well and more creatively than any of us can imagine. Later I took my puppy outside and had her chasing me around in the backyard like a maniac. I danced like a fool to Mute Math in my front yard and enjoyed to cool air. What could have been a really boring night turned out to be both fun and inspirational. For now,

Peace

Jeremy says Hello

Jeremy from Iraq says hello and that you are "amazing". I told him that the recent spike in interest with buy shoes. save lives. is not due to the recent Relevant article they got but to the m6:8 community group. Now I'm not really sure that we have done anything to warrant the descriptive "amazing" that he has attributed us with. So go to buyshoessavelives.com and order some sweet klash to give Iraqi children life-altering surgeries and hopefully so much more. If you can't get any kicks right now (or even if you can) please pray for Jeremy, Jessica, Emma, Micah, and Cody. They need endurance and protection and encouragement.
Peace
