Joe in the Sky

John 15:16-18 - "You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. These things I command you, so that you will love one another. If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you."

Most of you know that Ashley, Bailey, Steve, and I will be going to Kenya next month to spend some time doing missions work. I am amped up about going to Africa and I know that it will be a trip to remember. The people that we linked up with to plan this trip are still having trouble selling their house here in the United States. Joe will be leaving later today to head to Kenya for three months and begin working on the orphanage that he and his wife and son will be running. When we go next month he will meet us in Nairobi and we will live with him and the pastor for the time we are there.

I would like to ask you guys to pray for Joe and his family whenever you read this. Keep them in mind as you go through the day. They desperately want to jump in and get started on this work that God has called them to do and it is difficult for them to have to be apart for a few months. Yet they have faith and a willingness to do something radical like this because they love the least of these and believe in the power of our God.

Undoubtedly, there will be difficulty in this journey and perhaps hatred from men. I know that Joe and Molly trust that this is only becuase they are following Jesus. I am coming to understand that as well. Anything that is hatred toward them or those of us who are a part of this community group is because we are being disciples of Jesus. Put your hope in God and stand tall because you find identity in Christ. He will not abandon Joe, Molly, Elijah, or us.
